People Counter

People Counter: Know Who Walks In. Hear What They Think.

Anonymous, wire-free people counting that sits right beside your in-the-moment feedback - so every score is measured against real foot traffic, and teams act when a space gets busy, not after it fails.

Traffic sensors

Anonymous, wire-free counting beside every feedback point

  • In and out, separately

Bidirectional counting measures arrivals and exits, so every feedback score is set against real visits - and live occupancy is always known.

  • Years between battery swaps

Battery-powered sensors mount beside your kiosk, tablet or QR sign in minutes. No wiring, no outlets, no electrician for most installs.

  • Temperature built in

Sensors also report temperature, so you can see whether comfort or cleanliness complaints line up with a room running too hot or too cold.

Traffic + feedback

Traffic peaks arrive before the complaints do

Put hourly foot traffic next to negative ratings from the same space and a pattern appears: complaints follow the crowd, often by about an hour. The busy lunch rush is when the restroom runs out of supplies - the bad ratings land just after.

Because PXP sees traffic building in real time, it can alert the team when a space passes its visitor threshold - before the red ratings arrive. Alerts and work orders run through Action Hub, with notifications by SMS, email or WhatsApp.

Why count people

Foot traffic is the missing half of every feedback score

Ten complaints about a restroom mean something very different after 200 visitors than after 2,000. A dip in store satisfaction at 5 p.m. means something different when the store is three times busier than at noon. Without visitor numbers, teams are left guessing whether a signal is a crisis or noise.

A people counting sensor adds that context automatically. PXP turns raw counts into rates and lets operations plan staffing, cleaning and service around the hours when people actually arrive.

What traffic unlocks

True response rates
How many visitors actually gave feedback, not just how many responses came in
Service by usage
Trigger cleaning and checks after a set number of visits, not just on a timer
Staff to real demand
Spot peak hours and match staffing to when satisfaction starts to dip
Fair location comparisons
Compare sites by complaints per 1,000 visitors, not raw volume

Two sensors, one picture

The right people counting sensor for every entrance

From a single restroom door to a busy lobby, choose the sensor that fits the space. Both report straight into PXP, beside the feedback from that same space.

Doorway people counter mounted above an entrance, counting people walking in and out

For doorways & corridors

Doorway counter

A compact, low-profile sensor that counts every person passing through a doorway, in both directions. The natural fit for restrooms, room entrances and hallways.

  • Bidirectional in / out counting
  • Ceiling or wall mount for standard doorways
  • Battery-powered - nothing to wire
  • Temperature reporting
Wide-area people counter covering a lobby entrance, counting people walking side by side

For lobbies & wide entrances

Wide-area counter

Covers a wider zone with higher accuracy for busy spaces, telling apart people walking side by side so crowded entrances still get a reliable count.

  • Bidirectional counting with side-by-side detection
  • Wide coverage for lobbies, malls and terminals
  • High accuracy in busy, crowded spaces
  • Temperature reporting

How it fits

From the doorway to your dashboard

01

Sensor counts

Mounted above or beside the entrance, it counts people anonymously - no cameras, no images.

02

Gateway relays

A single wireless gateway picks up every sensor in the building - independent of your corporate IT network.

03

PXP connects

Traffic is matched with feedback from the same location and time, in the same dashboard.

04

Teams act

Thresholds raise alerts and work orders while there's still time to act on them.

Where it fits

A foot traffic counter for restrooms, retail, airports and more

The same sensors serve very different spaces. What changes is the decision the traffic data supports.

Hospitals & clinics

Waiting-room load by hour, visitor washroom usage, and traffic context for patient experience scores.

Restaurants & venues

Covers by hour, queue build-up at peak, and staffing decisions backed by real visitor numbers.

Usage-based service

Clean and staff by the crowd, not the clock

Fixed cleaning rounds and fixed rosters assume every hour is the same. Visitor counts show that they aren't. Set a visitor threshold per space and PXP flags a restroom, lobby or counter for service once that many people have passed through since its last check - alongside the regular schedule.

The counter resets when staff confirm the service on site with a verified check-in, so the next alert is always measured from the real last clean.

Built in across the range

Simple to deploy. Private by design.

Anonymous by design

No cameras and no images - only in and out counts, as privacy-safe as the anonymous feedback beside them.

Battery-powered

Years between battery swaps, so sensors go wherever your feedback points already are.

Its own wireless network

A building-wide wireless gateway carries the counts - no corporate Wi-Fi or IT project required.

Live occupancy & capacity alerts

See how many people are in a space right now, and alert the team when it passes a capacity limit.

Temperature reporting

Link room temperature to comfort complaints and find the cause behind low scores faster.

Live in your dashboard

Traffic sits next to feedback, alerts and work orders in PXP - no separate system to log into.

FAQ

People counter questions, answered

What is a people counter?

A people counter is a sensor mounted above or beside a doorway that counts how many people walk in and out of a space. PXP's people counter reports those counts by hour, day and location, and places foot traffic alongside feedback scores, alerts and service schedules in one dashboard.

Does the people counter use cameras?

No. PXP's people counters capture no images of people. They record anonymous in and out counts only, so they can be used in restrooms, clinics and other privacy-sensitive spaces.

Which people counter do I need?

For a standard doorway or corridor - such as a restroom, room entrance or hallway - a compact doorway counter is the usual choice. For lobbies, mall entrances and terminals where people walk side by side, a wide-area counter covers a larger zone with higher accuracy. Many sites use both.

Do people counters need wiring or our IT network?

No. The sensors are battery-powered with years between battery swaps, so most installs need no wiring or electrician. Counts travel over a dedicated wireless gateway that runs independently of your corporate IT network and Wi-Fi.

Can it show live occupancy and capacity alerts?

Yes. Because the counter measures people coming in and going out, PXP can show how many people are in a space right now and alert the team when it passes a capacity limit you set.

How does people counting work with customer feedback?

Visitor counts give feedback context. PXP shows true response rates, complaints per 1,000 visitors and ratings by hour next to traffic, so teams can tell whether a drop in satisfaction comes from a busy period or a real service problem.

Can visitor counts trigger cleaning or staff alerts?

Yes. Set a visitor threshold per space and PXP alerts the team when it is reached - for example, servicing a restroom after a set number of visitors since its last cleaning. Alerts and work orders run through PXP Action Hub with SMS, email or WhatsApp notifications.

Do the sensors measure temperature?

Yes. The sensors also report temperature, so you can check whether comfort or cleanliness complaints line up with a room running too hot or too cold.

Can I compare foot traffic across multiple locations?

Yes. Every sensor is tied to a location, so entrances, floors, buildings and sites can be compared by hour, day of week and period on the same dashboard, alongside their feedback results.
